About Peter Pickering

Peter Pickering is a photographer with more than six decades behind the camera. His street work concentrates on black and white, human gestures, quiet humour and the relationships that emerge in ordinary public life.

His influences include Henri Cartier-Bresson, Vivian Maier, Garry Winogrand, Ernst Haas and René Maltête. He regards those influences as starting points for looking, while encouraging photographers to develop their own interests and judgement.

Peter founded the Facebook group Street Photography Cartier-Bresson Inspired. His website brings together his photographs, field notes and this guide as a place to share experience and continue learning.
